Breaking ground at our New Ferry regeneration development

Work has officially begun on our New Ferry regeneration project in partnership with The Regenda Group, to rebuild and revitalise the area by creating more than 70 new homes.

We marked the ‘start on site’ with our colleagues across The Regenda Group, representatives from Wirral Council and Homes England, who’ve provided £1.9m funding towards the development of the new, affordable homes. Our special guests of honour were children from Grove Street Primary School who will be following the build through our Positive Footprints ‘Raising Aspirations Programme’.

Phase 1 of the development will bring 34 new homes to the area available for rent-to-buy with Redwing and affordable rent with Regenda Homes. Homes will be a mix of houses and apartments constructed by M&Y Maintenance and Construction on Boundary and Bebington Road.

As always, community development is at the heart of everything we do as part of The Regenda Group – and New Ferry is no different. We’ll be creating employment, training and work experience opportunities locally, including apprenticeships supported by The Learning Foundry and employment programmes with partners including PLACED. Highstreet and highway improvements will follow the creation of the new homes, with £1.19m from the Department of Levelling Up and Communities.

Michelle Brooks, Director of Operations at Redwing, said: "We're delighted to be working as one team on the New Ferry project with our partners M&Y Maintenance and Construction and Regenda Homes, as part of The Regenda Group.  New Ferry is an exciting project that not only brings an excellent standard of affordable homes to the market but will also regenerate the area and create opportunities for local people, something the community has been patiently waiting for seven years. We look forward to watching this site progress and get one step closer to bringing the homes to market!"

“It’s fantastic to be working as one team on this project with our partners M&Y Maintenance and Construction and Regenda Homes at The Regenda Group, to regenerate places and provide good quality affordable homes. The Redwing team are so excited to see work begin on-site at Mill Bank and be one step closer to bringing these gorgeous new homes to market for residents of the West Derby area.”

Martin Davies, Director of Development, at The Regenda Group, said: “We’re pleased to see work begin on site at New Ferry. This is an important milestone in our project to rebuild and transform the area, bringing a range of high-quality, affordable homes that meet the needs of local people.”

Stephanie Harrison, Executive Director Operations – Customer Service, at The Regenda Group, said:  “We’re excited to see work starting on the New Ferry site. This is a significant development for local people, seeing the area brought back to life through affordable housing.  As a regeneration company with a community focus, we’ve pledged to bring many benefits to the local community, including opportunities for local children, young people and adults.”

Cllr Tony Jones, Chair of the Economy, Regeneration and Housing Committee for Wirral Council, said:  “We are delighted that The Regenda Group is partnering with us on this development. The group consists of a number of multi-disciplined, specialist companies and they bring a strong community focus to the project and are committed to delivering social value in this project as well as high-quality new accommodation where it is needed in New Ferry.”
