Third shortlisting for St Martins development

W e are excited to announce that our St Martins Development has been shortlisted for the third time! We’ve been recognised in the Best Partnership category at the   2024 Inside Housing Development Awards

St Martins is a collaborative development between The Regenda Group , M&Y Maintenance and Construction , Redwing , the Parish Church Council of Broughton, and Paddock Johnson Partnership.

The development built by M&Y Maintenance and Construction saw 5 houses and 9 apartments constructed for Rent to Buy through Redwing on previously unused land around the chapel.

By collaborating with the Church, local community, and our subcontractors, we delivered over £588k in social impact initiatives! Staff from across The Regenda Group and M&Y Maintenance and Construction used volunteering days to help with planting and landscaping for the chapel building, donations to local food banks and spend within the local supply chain.

Engaging with local schools enabled us to connect young people with the world of regeneration and sustainable construction as a career.  Once the development was completed, a community planting day was organised so that members of the parish, residents of the new homes and the people from local community could contribute to the completion of the development and share in the celebrations for this new hub of the community. The chapel was officially opened by the Bishop of Blackburn in September 2023.

The properties were let and managed by Redwing, with positive feedback received from residents. The partnership between Regenda, M&Y Maintenance and Construction and Broughton PCC is an excellent example of how different organisations can work together to deliver a shared vision, utilising surplus Church of England land for the provision of affordable housing.

Derrick, one of the new home residents shared:
“We found our perfect property! Redwing were always available to answer our questions and provide guidance. We are beyond grateful and love our new home!”

Ella Lowe, Property Manager for St Martins said:
“From working closely with local partners to helping customers onto the property ladder, we put communities at the heart of everything we do, so we’re delighted to be shortlisted for the Community Impact Project of the Year award!”

Canon Andrea, Titterington, Broughton PCC said:
“The quality of Regenda’s work and testimonies were outstanding. Our partnership has been positive, supportive, and productive throughout the 5-year project timescale, which included the COVID pandemic. M&Y undertook school workshops on construction which were valued by the parish school. Support was given to the Preston Food Bank, our move into the new building and the community planting day . This has been a model of partnership, and the proof is in the quality of the end product for the Broughton Parish and Fulwood’s community.”
